Jonathan M. Fuchs
Lighting Designer

I am a lighting designer and theatrical lighting technician who has found a day job that he likes.

After completing Graduate School in Lighting Design at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in 2007, I found employment at Cross Light, Inc., an independent Manufacturer's Representative agency for many theatrical lighting, rigging, and control equipment companies. We cover the majority of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky for several companies, including Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC).

In pursuit of my MFA, I have designed many shows, including Opera, Drama, Musical, and Dance. Though I am beginning to enjoy leaving work at 5, I still enjoy the occasional freelance lighting design.

Prior to attending CCM, I spent some time on the road as Assistant Electrician on Phoenix Productions' national tours of Grease ('03-'04) and Smokey Joe's Cafe
('04-'05).

Before that, I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned my BFA in Lighting Design in 2003. There, I designed three mainstage shows - two dramas and an opera workshop, plus eight other shows at the student-run theater.

In the summers of 2003 and 2004 I worked for the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City, where I was the Festival Master Electrician / Assistant Lighting Designer as well as designer of a cumulative total of ten shows.

My resume is available for download in pdf, while the portfolio is a collection of photos and screenshots from 2003 to the present, with more added as time allows.
